Where to Watch The House That Jack Built
- stuhannafordApril 8, 2026Not for everybody, and probably not for most. As per the usual Von Trier entry, it’s self indulgent, self deluded at times and suffers from a feeling of great self importance. The stretches of good, however, are absolutely brilliant. Dillon is excellent, especially in his lone scenes, and adds a sense of unnerving that makes him hard to watch, in a good way. It’s interspersed with long, drawn out artistic and philosophical conversations and thoughts however, which will turn many off I’m sure… and even if they aren’t, there is no getting away from the fact that these stretches are very long. An ambiguous ending, many questions raised, and on the whole worth a watch. Just be prepared to push through a few scenes.
- NiztradamusOctober 7, 2025It's a typical Lars von Trier movie. You now, the guy that said on stage that he understands Hitler when talking about Jews. The guy that literally said "Ok, I'm a Nazi." The guy that could single handedly could talk his way from a parking ticket into the death penalty. He also made Antichrist, Nymphomaniac, Melancholia and movies like that. It is boring. So freaking boring. Great effects, great acting but just sooo boring. Even when someone gets killed Lars von Trier somehow manages to make even that boring. If you are curious, search "Lars von Trier -- "I understand Hitler..."" on Youtube. There's the whole desaster of a panel online, right for your pleasure. You can thank me later for this absolute hilarious brainfart he had live on stage.
