The Heiress Ratings & Reviews
- Mister ArnMay 14, 2025Based on the title and plot summery didn't think I would like this movie. I've enjoyed other William Wyler films, but never watched this one. Each character is complex yet simple and their interactions are quite realistic, something needed to make a melodrama watchable.
- Sheila RoseJanuary 19, 2026Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!! Catherine’s character arc is one of the most quietly devastating (and dark) I’ve ever seen — every shift earned, every wound visible beneath the surface. Olivia de Havilland’s performance is extraordinary in its restraint, and Wyler’s direction allows the tragedy to unfold without melodrama. I only wish Catherine had found love…😢 though perhaps the point is that she finally finds herself. Fun Fact: Olivia de Havilland lived to 104! 🤯 William Wyler has officially become one of my favorite directors. I’m ready to watch everything he ever made! Every time I watch one of his films for the first time, I immediately want to watch it again.
