Katten Gustaf - filmen Ratings & Reviews
- Manuel Frangis5 december 2025I just watched The Garfield Movie and I give it 3 out of 5 stars. This movie had moments that were cute, funny, and warm, but it also had parts that felt a little flat or predictable. I enjoyed the overall vibe because Garfield has always been a character with a laid back, lazy charm that makes him fun to watch. The movie tries its best to bring that familiar tone into a new animated style, and sometimes it works really well. Other times, it feels like the story is stretched too thin or aimed too narrowly, which made the emotional moments a little weaker for me. Still, it has a sweet spirit and enough humor to keep it entertaining. The animation is bright and colorful. It has a soft look that makes the characters easy to connect with. Garfield’s design is expressive, and you can see every little emotion on his face. His lazy attitude, eye rolls, and small reactions translate well into this animation style. The world around him is also playful and stylized, which helps give the movie a cozy atmosphere. Even though the story did not always grab me, the visuals made it enjoyable to look at. The voice acting is solid. Garfield’s voice fits his personality, giving him that relaxed and sarcastic tone fans expect. His delivery carries many of the funnier lines and adds personality even when the writing feels simple. The supporting characters also add life to the film. Odie brings that classic silent humor through expressions and physical comedy, and Jon Arbuckle continues to be awkward and lovable. There are new characters as well who bring energy to the story, but some of them feel more like basic kid movie characters rather than people with depth. One thing I appreciated is that the movie tries to give Garfield an emotional arc. It explores his feelings, particularly around relationships and responsibility. There are small moments where the movie slows down to show his softer side, and those scenes help give the story a bit more weight. The problem is that these emotional beats do not always land strongly because the pacing moves too quickly. The movie does not give enough time for the emotional moments to build. It jumps back into humor before those scenes can make a big impact. The humor is light and harmless. There are some funny gags that made me smile, especially when the jokes lean into Garfield’s lazy attitude or his dramatic reactions to simple things. But a lot of the comedy feels targeted at younger viewers, which makes some jokes feel predictable or simple. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does make the movie feel like it is missing the sharp wit that older fans might enjoy. The story itself is okay, but not very deep. It feels like a simple adventure that relies more on movement than emotional detail. There are fun moments and a few sweet scenes, but the overall plot feels familiar. I never felt bored, but I never felt fully drawn in either. The pacing is fast, which keeps things moving, but sometimes it moves too fast for its own good. By the time the movie ended, I felt like it was entertaining enough to enjoy once, but not strong enough to stand out as something unforgettable. The Garfield Movie has charm, humor, and heart, but it does not fully reach its potential. It earned its 3 out of 5 rating from me.
- ርልዪረ6 november 2025This is a great, fun, heart-warming, wonderfully clever film. Finally, a movie that. Captures the humor & heart of Jim Davis’s Garfield legacy! Go. See. It. While there are some frightening images & suspenseful situations, this film is easily suitable for all ages. Chris Pratt does a stellar job expressing his inner Garfield while Hannah Waddingham’s voice as the nemesis Is absolutely stellar. Be sure to stay for the super-cute credits and a totally badass song from Waddingham. The lady can WAIL… on-pitch & with feeling! Editing on this film is tight & keeps the story clipping along with just the right beats. The story itself rides a razor’s edge of cutting-edge humor coupled with homage to classic cartoon humor of yesteryear. Fresh & just a flat-out FUN ride with moments that strike the feels with perfect pitch & will touch even the most glacial of hearts.
- Kevin Ward1 juli 2025The Garfield Movie presents a multifaceted narrative exploring the profound psychological impacts of abandonment, the search for identity, and the moral complexities of crime. This film centers on Garfield, an orange tabby cat abandoned at an early age by his criminal father, Vic. Garfield is found on the street and adopted by Jon, but his constant fear of abandonment causes him to obsessively overeat. The arrival of his biological father and the involvement of Garfield’s loyal adopted brother, Odie—a dog—further intensify the narrative, culminating in a heist orchestrated by Jinx, Vic’s vengeful former partner in crime. This heist tests familial bonds and personal resilience, ultimately revealing deeper truths about loyalty and redemption. From the outset, Garfield's abandonment by his father shapes his worldview, manifesting in an obsessive relationship with food. His overeating is more than a mere habit; it is a coping mechanism for his deep-seated fear of being left alone. Food becomes a surrogate for the emotional nourishment he craves but has been denied. This compulsive behavior underscores the film's exploration of how early trauma can distort an individual's relationship with themselves and their environment. Garfield's adoption by Jon introduces a semblance of stability into his chaotic life. Jon's unconditional love and patience offer Garfield a chance at normalcy, yet the cat's fear of abandonment remains ever-present. This internal struggle highlights the persistent nature of childhood trauma, suggesting that external stability alone is insufficient to heal deep psychological wounds. Odie, Garfield's adopted brother, is unconditionally loyal, doing anything Garfield asks without question. Odie's loyalty serves as a stark contrast to Garfield's deep-seated trust issues, highlighting the varied ways individuals cope with and respond to trauma. The reentry of Vic into Garfield's life acts as a catalyst for the film's central conflict. Vic, steeped in a life of crime, represents the antithesis of Jon's nurturing presence. Yet, this return is not merely a plot device; it serves to reopen old wounds and challenge Garfield's sense of identity. Torn between the world he knows and the lure of his father's approval, Garfield's journey becomes one of self-discovery and moral ambiguity. Vic's coercion of Garfield and Odie into a heist orchestrated by Jinx amplifies the stakes. Jinx, as a crime lord, has a personal vendetta against Vic, who was responsible for Jinx's imprisonment many years earlier. This heist is emblematic of Garfield's internal turmoil—a test of his loyalty, courage, and inherent goodness. Jinx, representing ultimate corruption and revenge, contrasts starkly with Jon's moral compass, further complicating Garfield's choices. Odie’s unwavering loyalty during the heist adds another layer of complexity, as his actions are driven by his devotion to Garfield rather than any personal stake in the criminal world. The heist's failure and Garfield's perceived abandonment by Vic at this critical juncture serve as the film's climax. This moment is a crucible for Garfield, encapsulating his worst fears and reinforcing his distrust in familial bonds. However, the subsequent revelation—that Vic ensured Garfield and Odie's safety—reframes the narrative. Vic's actions, initially masked as betrayal, are revealed to be a calculated move to protect Garfield and Odie from Jinx's wrath. This twist challenges simplistic notions of good and evil, suggesting that even flawed individuals are capable of profound acts of love. The resolution of Garfield's story is one of cautious optimism. His return to Jon signifies not just a physical homecoming, but an emotional and psychological one. The journey has scarred him, but it has also imparted crucial lessons about trust, love, and the complexities of human nature. Jon's unwavering support throughout Garfield's ordeal embodies the film's central message: that love, though sometimes tested, can offer a path to healing. Odie’s loyalty and involvement highlight the importance of unwavering support and companionship in overcoming personal demons. The Garfield Movie is a richly textured film that navigates the intricate interplay between abandonment, identity, and redemption. Through Garfield's journey, the film illuminates the enduring impact of early trauma and the potential for recovery through love and sacrifice. In the end, The Garfield Movie offers a powerful commentary on the possibility of redemption and the transformative power of unconditional love and loyalty….also, I meant 2 stars. I don’t know why I said 4.5.
