- cultfilmlikerMay 22, 2025I feel like I’ve seen this whole “lying about the diagnosis” thing before… *cough* Ikiru *cough* The acting is astonishing. Awkwafina is honestly mad impressive and Zhao Shuzhen is a treasure. Rest of the cast is all pulling their weight too. Just phenomenal all-around. Other faves: Aoi Mizuhara, Tzi Ma, and Diana Lin. I wish somebody had been singing Wyclef’s part during “Killing Me Softly” smh missed opportunity Felt like I saw some von Trier / Haneke influence but that was probably projection Awkwafina’s door not closing at the end dropped it 1/4 star lmao Oh yeah Memorial Day is this weekend, huh lmao very fitting
- RyezooFebruary 14, 2025I wish I loved it as everyone else. I think this is solid, heartfelt, and made me feel like I wasn’t watching a movie. Awkwifina is awesome. Really thought she gave a fantastic performance and the grandmother was excellent as well. I thought the film did have scenes that went on too long and made pacing drag sometimes. I also thought that the ending left me wanting a little more.
