The Drama Ratings & Reviews
- LenMay 6, 2026I fail to see how this movie got ANY positive ratings. The movie was absolutely, unequivocally HORRIBLE!!
- masterlukas774h agoOh wow! They were both great, and this was really good movie
- Rick Masters11h agoAnxiety ridden masterpiece. The tension was so heavy, the air I was breathing felt thinner THE DRAMA is one of those films that comes along from time to time that completely absorbs you and you forget its simply a film. More like a nightmare youre so relieved to wake up from... Exhaustingly brilliant.
- rg9400May 5, 2026This was an insane movie to watch two months before I get married. The Drama is one of those rare movies where almost every single detail ends up being in service towards the central themes and message of the movie. I can see how this movie is controversial or off-putting for some people. From the very beginning of this movie, it makes some odd choices that feel off. I understood the purpose of the very first scene only after finishing the movie. This is a movie with a very fascinating and complex moral dilemma at its heart, one that the movie turns on its head and examines from multiple different facets and angles. At its heart, it asks us to examine if we should forgive others, if we can afford grace for those that made mistakes, if we are who we are on our very worst days, and the distinction between intention vs action. It also skewers a certain type of social norm in the US. It's a deep movie that plays in shocking fashion. Even though the entirety of the movie is almost dialogue between characters, my theater was audibly gasping and screaming at multiple points. I strongly suggest going into it with no prior knowledge because it plays out like a wild ride. I do suspect its very dark comedy will not necessarily play well with everyone, but Zendaya and Robert Pattinson are incredible at selling it, fully blending into their roles. They are going to be in 3 movies together this year, and it's so impressive how I never thought about that because I was completely immersed in their roles and never noticed the stars behind the characters. I think this might be Zendaya's best performance to date. This movie is so confident and cohesive in its messaging, so cleverly written, that it is a must watch even if it might make viewers uncomfortable.
- vangh1April 23, 2026I assumed this was going to be about some of the usual domestic drama, what with the engagement theme, but I guess should've known better when I saw Ari Aster as a Producer in the opening credits that I was in for some serious shit. This ain't your usual domestic drama by a long shot. The Drama acts as a fantastically dark and humourous examination of the ways in which a lover's past exploits coming to light can force a shroud of doubt that compels one to reexamine everything they thought they know about their partner (for both parties). And I love the way in which the editing exhibits this. Quick cut-a-ways to mildly confounding scenes that may be a memory or something completely imagined pull us into the character's head, exhibiting their worries and doubts. The examination is all the more entertaining for the fact that the most judgemental character in the entire film (Rachel) is so scandalized by something that ALMOST happened, while taking entirely no responsibility for either setting in motion the conversation that led to the drama, nor for the terrible act that she actually did perform. Her ability to feel above it all and peer down from her high horse while actually being the most mudslinging toxic person of them all rings incredibly true as a personality type in 2026. The other question that is posed in the film is whether actual growth and learning can take place. Is it possible for someone on the cusp of an absolutely heinous and despicable violent act capable of becoming a new person overtime that is genuinely separate from the person that had that impulse. It also looks at, with great dark comedy, the cascading fallout that comes from discovery of that past darkness. No act ever exists in a vacuum. And often darkness leads to darkness, as we see here. A couple of things I loved: -How not over lit the nighttime bedroom scenes were. You can easily picture them having some blue rim light to create a bit of contrast, but I love that the scenes play as just flat darkness, leaving you to focus on the dialogue and nothing more. -How the re-introduction bit that Emma tries doesn't work at all the first go around, but by the end it works. Because the first time, she's already desperate, she already feels like she's at rock bottom and will try anything to turn it around, but Charlie isn't there yet. He can still cash out without too much damage to his reputation or sense of self. But by the end, he has also debased himself as the events unfold. The cataclysm has fully engulfed them both and so he has no choice but to join in on the reset, it's officially all they have left. -The back up DJ showing up and providing one of the biggest laughs I've had in a while with the borderline nonsensical gear chat and then following that up with a legendary jump scare! One of the smallest roles ever to hit absolute legend status in my books. The Drama is equally hard to watch and a joy to watch, and I'm super impressed at what a feat that is to pull off.
- cultfilmlikerApril 12, 2026“I just thought it looked cool.” Exquisite and so uniquely American. Gotta say, the plot hilariously would NOT work if Zendaya wasn’t one of the most attractive humans alive As noted in my review for Outcome, “Everyone’s done differing levels of bad things; some of us just haven’t been caught / acknowledged them” might not be the winning theme Jonah thought it was. But it certainly worked for The Drama! lol Jeremy Levick is a national treasure Currently Ranked #4/45 in 2026 Ranked

- Håkan Lundstedt1d agoIt is not a comedy romance. It’s a drama. Good but somewhat cringe to see with your grown children. Interesting subject, well made, good acting. But I got uncomfortable several times. Would’ve been easier if I had been prepared that it’s not a romcom.
- James SaenzApril 12, 2026“shooting the grandparents: tbd.” i was so stressed throughout this movie i was in the fetal position at certain points. it’s so funny and uncomfortable in equal measures, and zendaya and pattinson play so well off each other. i was the only one in the theater cackling like a maniac while charlie was desperately, aggressively jacking off in an attempt to get it up and to that i say: they didn’t see the vision. at one point rachel incredulously retorts to charlie’s comment about american gun culture and says “oh so it’s america’s fault now?” and well, like, yes. obviously. all that being said, i need to address the truly most horrific aspect of this film: charlie putting on his shoes before his pants and walking around the apartment in just a tank top, boxers and dress shoes.
- A. Constantin5d agoI think the movie tries to much and made the male character way to stupid, feels ridiculous and over the top most of the times. As a dark comedy, its fine, its okay... but as a drama? Nah...more like dramatically stupid.
- aprila631d agoWow, not what I was expecting when first hearing about this movie. I'm just gonna leave it at that.
- Devlinukr1d agoEnjoyable enough, but the characters and story were a bit laughable in places. The "villain" was far more likeable than the good guys.
- DJMOK2d agoKinda dragged in the beginning but then it got to the point of the film but then it just kept dragging again.
- Jack Blitz4d agoA deeply unsettling romantic comedy that takes a genuinely shocking turn in order to explore the human capacity for acceptance in light of even the darkest of pasts. Zendaya and Pattinson command the screen with unnervy performances that make it impossible to look away even when you want to.
- Chris Coppin4d agoWasn’t terrible. But wasn’t amazing either. Ending was disappointing, but not sure what else they could have done.
