The Creator Ratings & Reviews
- adam3199July 5, 2025On the surface looks good with effects but by before 1/3 in is tedious and dreadful. Dont bother
- Kevin WardJuly 2, 2025The Creator looks like what I dream of when I dream of a sci-fi movie. What Greig Fraser, Gareth Edwards and the VFX team have accomplished on a modest budget is astounding. Absolute recommend for that reason alone. It deserves to be seen on the big screen. I’m predisposed to love these kinds of sci-fi stories. And again, if I were to dream up “sci-fi movie story,” many of the elements would look a lot like The Creator. I really feels like an archetypical sci-fi movie in my eyes—and I love it for that reason. At the same time, despite being an original IP, it’s not going to come off feeling very original for some folks, and downright predictable for others (most perhaps). I think it’s a tremendous achievement though and really hope it does well at the box office. I think it could serve as proof of concept for blockbuster filmmaking on moderate a budget.
- The Gutter MonkeyMay 26, 2025I give it half a day before you forget you ever watched it. A week, you'll forget it ever existed.
- VarunOctober 19, 2024This movie isn’t perfect but goddamn it’s stunning! The sceneries, production design and cgi were so well done, you can clearly see how much love and effort was put into this project. From the grand visuals of Asian culture mixed with futuristic technology to the designs of simple vehicles, everything was immaculately displayed and made the world feel real and tangible, something which is often missing in big budget cgi films. I hope more directors are given larger budgets to make unique fantastical worlds. The story on the other hand is lacking. It’s a simple plot, with characters that aren’t very well developed and there isn’t much exploration into the philosophical problems posed by AI. These concepts have been portrayed in a lot of media already, like Ghost in the Shell (1995) for example, so it felt quite surface level here especially in 2023. The acting was well done, especially from Madeleine Voyles (Alphie) who gave a stellar performance and I always enjoy seeing Ken Watanabe (Harun) in more roles. The pacing was also quite good so I was engaged till the end. Overall I had a decent experience and if you love Sci-Fi, this is definitely a world worth checking out.
- Chris CurtisMarch 1, 2025This really felt like a movie of two sides. On one side, the plot was somewhat lacking. The whole "dangers of AI" aspect was only really ever paid lip service and not investigated like it deserved. The plot setup of how the west/America was going about their war also just didn't seem very smart, with too many logically-questionable choices in tactics and overall strategy. They also certainly come across as the more evil faction, due to those tactics. On the other side, this is just an absolutely beautiful film! The locations are gorgeous and you can tell they're real and not just VFX. But the VFX that's there (and there's plenty of it throughout the film) is fantastic quality. It's as good or better than blockbuster films with three times the budget. Gareth Edwards has a background as a visual effects artist and it shows through in all his films with the excellent quality of the VFX, but this film takes it to the next level. Performance-wise, Madeleine Yuna Voyles really brings Alphie to life and John David Washington gives another great turn as the main protagonist. Ken Watanabe is only a supporting role, but he's also excellent as usual. Sci-fi fans will almost certainly enjoy this film, particularly if you're able to set aside some of the plot issues. It's visually stunning, well-acted, and while it certainly has some issues, the film is entertaining and definitely worth a watch.
- Rotem ShanellMay 17, 2025A movie that keeps you thinking about it for the next few days A movie about ai that came out in the middle of a Hollywood strake against ai
- TanalienJanuary 9, 2025This film should spark a conversation about what kind of future we want. It begins in a dystopia, a world where we are afraid of a superintelligence gone rogue. Slowly, The Creator turns into another kind of vision where we and sentient machines peacefully coexist. This turning of expectations – from our initial indifference to a robot losing its head to our heartache when a humanoid child expresses her sadness – is the film’s greatest achievement. In the realm of cinematic storytelling, The Creator expresses what has only been theory, imagining a potential future in an emotional way. A world where humanoid mothers care for human sons and a human father cares for his humanoid daughter. Who imagined a future where humans sacrifice themselves to free machines from bondage? A future where machines have an equal right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? What would you say to a humanoid child who asks you, “Am I going to Heaven?”
- burtjohansonFebruary 5, 2025Don’t waste your time. Cheesy, bland, boring - you’ll be waiting for the end.
- Mister ArnNovember 14, 2023"The Creator" boasts visually stunning cinematography and remarkable scenes that captivate the eye. Yet, the narrative needs to be revised, riddled with gaps that contrast sharply with the meticulous attention given to its visual production. The story's concept was appealing, but the execution of its telling could have been better.
- oweng15October 13, 2024Great film with good cgi and some sprinkled comedy would definitely recommend watching.
