The Buddha Wallah
Directed by Georg Maas, Dieter ZeppenfeldChristopher Titmuss is a product of the sixties. At the beginning of the seventies he traveled to India as a reporter, discovered Buddhism and became a monk in Thailand. Seven years later he "disrobed" and founded the meditation center Gaya House in England. Since then he has been traveling around the world, holding meditation retreats in India, Australia, Israel, Palestine, Europe and the USA. His understanding of the teachings of the Buddha is clear, radical and political. The film follows him to conflict areas in different places of the world and documents his efforts towards peace. A pilgrimage to Thailand to his former places of action illustrates the importance of deep friendship but also of the stillness of being alone for a fulfilled life. And again and again the small things in life play a great role in the search for happiness.
