The film tells the story of a family pushed to the brink as the result of slander. Sabahat spends every day doing housework and looking after her naughty child and cantankerous mother-in-law. When he comes home tired from work, Cemal is inundated with Sabahat's complaints every night. They start to argue more and more. Their neighbor Mualla, who has been in love with Cemal for years, takes advantage of this tense atmosphere. When Cemal throws Sabahat out after one argument, Mualla will see this as a chance to set her plan in action.
