- Richard5 de octubre de 2025This one’s got a strange charm to it. It’s messy, clever and way more layered than it first lets on. At first glance, it looks like a quirky kids’ movie, little creatures in boxes, goofy villains and a lot of trash. But once it gets going, it turns into something deeper. The Boxtrolls themselves aren’t monsters, they’re gentle, inventive, and kind. The animation’s gorgeous, handmade, textured, full of weird little details. What really stuck with me was the tone. It’s dark, but not bleak. Funny, but not hollow. It doesn’t spoon feed morals, it just lets the story play out and you pick up the pieces. There’s a moment near the end where everything clicks and it’s not loud or dramatic, it’s quiet, almost tender. That’s rare. It’s not perfect. Some of the pacing drags and a few jokes don’t land. But it’s one of those films that feels like it was made with care. You can see the fingerprints in every frame. Definitely one of the more thoughtful animated films out there. Strange, scrappy and full of heart.
