The banker was anxious for his two sons to develop into successful businessmen; to satisfy himself about their capabilities, he gave each one a large sum of money. The older one promptly justified his father's faith by investing his money in real estate, but his younger brother purchased an expensive racing automobile. The father was deeply disappointed at his son's failure to demonstrate his business capacity, and the elder brother became his favorite. But the time soon came when the younger son's racing car proved to be a far more valuable investment than real estate, for it was the means of saving the banker's fortune. A false report that the bank was insolvent caused the depositors to clamor for their money.
