- Matthias_812April 4, 2025All of you need to pull the stick out of your ass. This was a killer sequel and I have very very little complaints. It's not like this franchise is sacred and has always been a high caliber of quality. It's a slasher film- the only requirement needed are some great kills. 2022's vision of Texas Chainsaw Massacre is unrelenting BRUTALITY. The southern sun bleached violence is the meanest since the Michael Bay produced remake. I loved the short run time- it didn't take long for the blood to spill. It's obvious Fede Álvarez had his input. That first kill with the hand snap was a jaw dropping stunner! Some of the best kills I've seen since Hatchet. Many nods to the original picture that would make me grin. I've always been defending early 00's slashers. They are straight to the point and focused only on the body count. This sequel was a callback to those days, something we would had gotten in 2005. In fact, this was shot a little too slick- like it looks beautiful in moments. Hate this because of the characters? That's the damn point. These Gen Z snobs are perfect chainsaw meat. The bus slaughter is insane. I wasn't wild about bringing back Sally's character, it didn't add much dynamic to the film- the only real complaint I have about the film. I found the lead having the school shooting survival tragedy fresh as she learned to cope and even overcome her fears of guns to some degree. AND HOW ABOUT THAT ENDING?! Learn to have fun. It's too easy for everyone to be an a24 snob. Be lucky we got a film this brutal in today's climate in such a wide release, even for Netflix willing to release it on their platform. Now fingers crossed we can get physical copies produced.
