Tank Girl Ratings & Reviews
- RichyE1d agoTank Girl is a punk-rock blast of post-apocalyptic chaos, bursting with attitude, absurdity, and comic book flair. Lori Petty stars as the fearless, foul-mouthed heroine who takes on a dystopian water-controlling regime with a tank, a wild sense of humor, and zero regard for authority. With Naomi Watts in her screen debut and Malcolm McDowell as the villain, the cast dives headfirst into the madness. The film mixes live action with animated sequences, surreal visuals, and a killer 90s soundtrack curated by Courtney Love. It’s messy, loud, and proudly unconventional—just like the comic it’s based on. 🎬 Verdict Tank Girl is a cult classic that thrives on its anarchic spirit and fearless creativity. It’s not polished, and it’s definitely not mainstream—but that’s exactly the point. It would be extremely difficult to make this kind of movie today without offending almost everyone—and that’s sometimes a shame. Its irreverence and chaotic energy are part of its charm, even if they clash with modern sensibilities. And let’s be honest—if you rate this movie poorly, you probably don’t understand the vibe of the comic. It’s meant to be wild, rebellious, and totally unfiltered. For fans of punk aesthetics, offbeat sci-fi, and unapologetic weirdness, Tank Girl is a must-watch in your Plex library.
- SpanktacularJuly 24, 2025It feels like a design-by-committee film where every fifteen minutes they shoot the director and bring in another team. You can tell some people worked very hard on this, and I don't want to put them down. I'm also curious about the source material now and how the hell this was created. Also, spoiler, but that chick is banging a dog in the end, right? Did I misunderstand that?
- Jacob O’NealJune 24, 2025This is a flawed movie, mostly due to studio interference. But if you believe the creators of the comic, then it was just sheer incompetence all around. Fascinatingly, the end result is still a hell of a lot of fun. Rachel Talalay directed the film fresh off nearly ruining Elm Street with Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare only to go on and have a big TV career, directing many of the best Doctor Who episodes in the revival era. Lori Petty starred with Naomi Watts (in her screen debut) and Malcolm McDowell with small roles for the likes of Ice T as half kangaroo mutant. It’s one of those kind of movies. The movie embraces the MTV era of the 90’s with a both a wink and an earnestness. The concept is both ridiculous and fun in execution. Have fun with it. Embrace the goofiness. Enjoy the animated bits where they supposedly “forgot” to shoot scenes.
- Risk The BardApril 22, 2025animation was cool but out of place. I think it had potential but didn't stick any landings
- tellumApril 9, 2025Abhorently bad. Any score not in the negatives is too high. It’s a testament to the talent of the actors that anyone was able to have a career after this, but they couldn’t save this movie, nothing could have. They wasted their lives making it, and we all wasted our lives watching it.
