Jørgen Ryg as the early retired Arntsen is at the very center of Sven Holm's play. Even though he is vulnerable and suffering from some mental illness issues, Arntsen is trying to cope and to keep up his dignity and spirit in his very own way. Only his old friend the laundress (Horne-Rasmussen) and his newly found love Mette (Lindorff) seem to understand him.
