Superman Ratings & Reviews
- RipLinesManMay 12, 2025Bro Event Horizon (1997) had Sam Neill goin full nightmare mode, cuttin out his own eyes while Laurence Fishburne tried to hold a cursed crew together on a ship that literally opened a gateway to hell. It was pure chaos and regret, bro. Superman hits just as hard but flips the whole thing, instead of fear and madness, it’s heart, hope, and someone actually fighting to pull people outta the fire. David Corenswet brings that same heavy leadership vibe as Fishburne, but he’s calm, kind, and built different. Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor gives off big Sam Neill energy, all smart and twisted, like he’s two bad decisions away from tearing open the fabric of reality just to prove a point. Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane? Bro she’s tougher than half the Event Horizon crew and smarter than the rest, and she never flinches. The story goes deep on who Superman is, what he stands for, and why the world needs him even when it doesn’t understand him. James Gunn cooked a wild one; action, emotion, legacy, all of it. Five stars bro. When Event Horizon opened a gateway to hell, Superman shows up in this one to fly straight through it and shut it down.
- Kevin Welkner1d agoI liked the last fight and the ending but the first half or maybe more was a snooze fest. Mr. Fantastic is the best
- wonchop4d agoWorst superman ever. I'm really disappointed in this one. How do I unwatch this? I feel like this has ruined superman forever.
- mjd2394d agoA good film but not as good as Man of Steel
- JoelJuly 8, 2025Marvel losing James Gunn to DC will go down as one of the biggest fumbles of all time. He just gets it man. This is what Superman should be. It’s bright, colorful, funny, and full of heart. Every character has such a distinct personality and look that feels ripped straight out of a comic. The score of course is great. John Murphy + the classic John Williams theme = peak. And Gunn really holds back on using pop music for most of this film, but the few needle drops really worked for me. I’m kinda all onboard for what Gunn is building at DC. This world is so fantastical and I’m ready to explore many more stories in it. He cooked.
- Ronny RodriguezJuly 11, 2025I liked Man of Steel better. This new one is way too weak
- landoisniceJuly 11, 20255/5 STARS!!!! This piece of cinema is PHENOMENAL! Every bit of this movie felt accurate to who/what Superman truly is. Even the other characters (i.e. Lois Lane, Green Lantern,) just felt right. This can be the building blocks for a new future for the DC universe cinematically!
- KGM SOSA5d agoNext up is one I been waiting to pull the trigger on & that’s the new ‘Superman’ (2025), so where do I begin with this, I rate it 7/10 with my criteria for 7 stars being “Good / Enjoyable / Worth watching once or twice.” I was nervously putting off watching this for a while as I was afraid it would be awful, at first glance I didn’t (& still don’t) like the new suit design for Superman, which goes against the grain from previous adaptations of being deceiving designed to make Superman actors look more muscular which I prefer from a character design standpoint. I also heard the movie had heavy political undertones which usually leans overwhelmingly liberal in many modern films surprisingly it actually was political in my favour (more on that soon) but still probably alienating potential audiences but I digress. Theres more but I’ll cover it shortly. Firstly what I DID like what (obviously) the visuals such as CGI, cinematography & editing was incredible, as you expect from any adaptation newer than the previous. Theres CGI & practical effects were unbelievable, it was so impressive to look at. The action sequences were incredible too like teeth being punched out of faces in 3d graphics & the technology of the villains, everything looked spectacular; from a visual standpoint you cannot fault it. I did actually grow to enjoy SOME of the casting choices too, I originally internally hated on the casting choice for the new Clark/superman but since watching have come around on that. I liked the females such as Cat Grant played by Mikaela Hoover which was just absolutely hot with an insane rack which we got fan service of with the wardrobe choices. Also Lois, Eve, Fleurette & also the Balkan girls from the fictional country ‘Boravia’ were all beautiful. I also like how James Gunn was able to write in Superman to take damage without resorting to OVERuse of kryptonite. I also loved that krypto the dog was written into this film unlike the others. However on to some of the things I disliked: Firstly I disliked many of the casting choices for example Martha & Jonathan Kent, I didn’t feel like they fit their roles. I also really disliked the fact that many of Supermans’ abilities were untapped & not demonstrated as he has more powers in his arsenal that weren’t displayed. I also disliked the lack of death, Superman obviously doesn’t kill people but usually characters die at either the hands of other supes or by accident in battle, this one nobody died. Theres more but I’m too busy to finish so to wrap it up Overall I liked the film it was filled with equal amounts delightful surprises as it was bitter disappointments but overall was worth the watch clocking in at 7/10 stars
- Tiffie StarchildJuly 10, 2025Full disclaimer: this is my first Superman movie. I KNOW! I was in disbelief, too! I was like there’s no possible way that I’ve gone my entire life without seeing THEE Clark Kent shoot lasers and strip in telephone booths on the big screen. But then I ran the math back and fam.. I’m afraid it’s true. THAT BEING SAID - I totally get the Superman hype now! How can you see this character in action and NOT believe in hope and truth and being the absolute best human being (or alien refugee, in his case) that you can be? And this version of Superman has dimples?! Nah, fam, sign me up for the fan club immediately. Do we pay dues? Are there weekly meetings? Lex Luthor is HILARIOUS. Why is that man so obsessed?! And then - how is he SO obsessed but still not clocking that Superman is Clark Kent?! All that money and you can’t even stalk right, what’s the point?! Without giving anything away, all of the villains (including Lex’s weird ass) were dope and incredibly well-played. I have no idea how accurate they are to the comics, but I know that overall this film was fun and amazing and emotional and funny. It was just really, really good entertainment. Do I even go back and watch all 511 Superman movies or am I already at the proverbial mountaintop, like, does it even get any better than this? Also, I would die for Krypto 🐶 Incoming spoiler reviews incoming on my other socials. Same name - y’all know where to find me 💕
- Kit LazerJuly 8, 2025What a Terrific movie. Right up my Lane. Even the Krypto bros are going to love it. Just a Super flick to this Guy. Solidly Engineered, heart warming, funny, will surely be added to the great superhero movie Lexicon. Sorry, I meant pantheon. Just a true Metamorphosis from the Snyderverse. … … Hawkgirl.
- PI_3XNovember 3, 2025I knew people were divided about this movie, but damn, what a mess. Yuck
- Megan CruzJuly 23, 2025People keep telling me I hated this movie. I didn’t. There’s so much I loved about this world and these characters. I think this film is fun, and earnest, and beautiful (not aesthetically unfortunately), but has a flawed and chaotic structure that doesn’t give its incredible characters enough room to totally flourish. The interview scene with Lois & Superman is, however, one of the most delightful things I’ve ever seen and Mr. Terrific is my hero. Is this movie a big mess of ugly cgi, bloated with too many half baked ideas? In my opinion, absolutely it is. Is it also an absolutely awesome time at the movies with characters I am completely invested in? Also yes.
