It starts with little things that you can still find amusing: Sometimes Charlotte gets into the wrong car, sometimes she comes to the office in house slippers. But it gets worse. More and more often she can no longer remember everyday terms, suddenly no longer knows what conferences are about and feels betrayed by everyone in the company. But although Charlotte feels very well that she can't just attribute her forgetfulness and her dropouts to old age, she suppresses the problem. With a lot of effort, she manages to deceive those around her about her condition. Her son Markus and her daughter Sandra, who is also grown, notice the changes, but initially do not want to accept the situation. Only Markus' new partner, the trained nurse Katrin, finds the courage to call things by their proper name: Charlotte suffers from progressive dementia. At first, proud Charlotte denied any suspicion that she was ill and reacted mockingly and aggressively to her children's offers of help. At the same time, her misfires and states of anxiety become more and more dramatic, her mental state more and more unstable. But Markus, Sandra and Katrin are powerless: Because Charlotte can only be helped if she allows it herself.
