A book enthusiast becomes increasingly frustrated by his noisy neighbours. Whilst trying to find some peace and quiet he uncovers a strange old radio cassette player that produces static noise and 1940's songs. The man soon realizes that the volume knob controls the sound of the world around him and is able to have precious peace and quiet in order to read his books but at a heavy cost.
