It is winter and mere months away from the beginning of the school year. Hajime takes his daughter Riko from Hiroshima to Tokyo in order to find her an apartment. They also take in the sights of the big city. The stage in life of the two is a time for introspection, looking back, looking forward, excitement and apprehension. While the two become better acquainted, the widow also remembers his late wife.
