Species II (Especie mortal II) Ratings & Reviews
- Dan S Turpin17 de noviembre de 2025High gloss trash. Reasonably entertaining. Lots of gore, sex and major tit!
- Richard19 de octubre de 2025If Species was a sleazy sci-fi thriller with a pulse, Species II is the sequel that overdosed on testosterone and forgot to bring a plot. This time, the alien DNA infects an astronaut on a Mars mission and when he returns to Earth, he’s basically a walking libido with a kill count. Subtlety? Never heard of her. Justin Lazard plays Patrick Ross, the infected astronaut who’s less interested in science and more in spawning alien offspring. Natasha Henstridge returns as Eve, now a genetically “tamed” version of Sil, though the taming doesn’t last long. Michael Madsen and Marg Helgenberger reprise their roles, looking increasingly like they regret signing the sequel clause. The film cranks up the gore, nudity and absurdity, but forgets the tension and mystery that made the first one semi watchable. It’s like someone said, “Let’s make Species again, but dumber and louder.” And they did. Watching it on DVD feels like revisiting a fever dream from the late '90s, where every sci-fi sequel had to be bloodier, sexier and somehow less coherent. The effects are gooey, the dialogue is laughable and the pacing is pure chaos. But hey, if you’re curating a Plex library of nostalgic genre trash, this one earns its spot. A trashy, testosterone fueled sequel that doubles down on everything you probably shouldn’t. It’s dumb, it’s loud and it’s kind of glorious in its own awful way. On DVD, it’s a relic of late-'90s excess, best served with beer, sarcasm, and zero expectations.
- Thomas Adkins7 de septiembre de 2025very so so. first one was good
- Zokkiie21 de junio de 2025This messy sequel cranks up the gore and sex but forgets the story. An astronaut gets infected with alien DNA and starts making killer alien babies—yeah, it’s as dumb as it sounds. Natasha Henstridge is wasted, and Michael Madsen looks bored. A few fun effects, but overall it’s a trashy, confusing ride that’s more gross than entertaining. Not the worst movie ever, but pretty close.
