- RichardDecember 13, 2025I first saw it on tv and found this one later in a bargain bin on DVD, and that’s exactly where it belongs, a scrappy slice of 80's sci‑fi pulp. The movie is about a 10 year old boy accidentally kidnapped by a spaceship full of space pirates, who then become his unlikely protectors. The film shamelessly reuses sets, costumes and even effects from Roger Corman’s Battle Beyond the Stars, giving it that recycled charm. The acting is stiff, the pacing uneven, but there’s a certain innocence to it, the kind of low budget adventure that feels like a Saturday matinee blown up onto VHS and bargain‑bin shelves. On DVD, the rough transfer only adds to the nostalgia. It’s not polished, it’s not clever, but it knows exactly what kind of movie it is: a cheap cash in with just enough heart to keep you watching.
