- Kevin WardJune 30, 2025I loved Souleymane's Story. It’s one of the most tense and absorbing watches I’ve seen in a while. You're with Souleymane, a refugee from Guinea, every step of the way as he navigates the daily grind of survival in France—biking deliveries he’s not legally allowed to make, hustling for any money he can put toward gaining asylum. His world feels like it’s hanging by a thread. Every minor disruption—a missed bus, a refused delivery, a casual police stop—carries the potential to unravel everything. It’s exhausting, and you feel it all. I love how the film lays out the different aspects of his life without ever hand-holding. We see his present struggle, his rehearsed interview story, and—only in the final moments—his real history. The editing is sharp and deliberate, trusting the audience to read between the lines. And that final note? No resolution, just limbo. The same place Souleymane lives in—perhaps even if his asylum is granted.
