"Sonechka" is a poignant and violent drama about the fragility of the psyche and loneliness of a teenager in the world of adults deprived of love and attention. The story of seventeen-year-old Sonya, who tries to escape from a grim reality with the help of an imaginary friend, finds fleeting hope for her first love, but is crushed by a monstrous tragedy in her own family. The film explores the themes of abandonment, escape from reality and how the silent indifference of the environment can lead to irreversible consequences.
