Having gotten a taste of college life, a drastically changed farm girl returns home for Thanksgiving break with her best friend, a flamboyant party animal who is clearly a fish out of water in a small farm town.

Just one of my guilt pleasures from growing up. Can quote this entire movie. Pauly is ridiculous and I <3 Tiffani Thiessen.

Son in Law is one of Pauly Shore’s early films and arguably his most heartfelt. It is absolutely a product of its time and a full showcase of the Weasel shtick. Low brow humor, SoCal slang, sun soaked stoner energy and all. And yet, it still holds up as a comfort watch. Yes, it is cheesy. Yes, the jokes are broad. Pauly is doing Pauly. But beneath the cargo shorts and surfer drawl is a surprisingly warm story about not judging a book by its cover. A city kid dropped into the country. A family learning that different does not mean wrong. A culture clash that softens into mutual respect. What really works is that the movie never mocks its heart. The humor pokes fun at everyone equally. The farm family is not dumb. The college kid is not evil. Everyone is just learning. That sincerity is what keeps this movie rewatchable decades later. Shore walks the line between obnoxious and charming better here than almost anywhere else. There is genuine sweetness in how he connects with the family and slowly earns his place. It might be wrapped in early 90s slang and silliness, but the core message still lands.

Fun movie. They kept it innocent too (didn’t go too far). Classic Paulie Shore against conservative simple farmer life, while being drawn in by it. Gotta love it.

One of the movies of all time. Some decent fish out of water comedy. If you've laughed at Pauly Shore's whole thing before, it's one of his better films. At least it's a Thanksgiving movie.

A decent comedy from 90s, not too deep but some decent moments. Pauley shore basically did what he did in all his movies, a variation of the weasel.
