César (Luis Tosar) works as a concierge in an apartment building and is infatuated with Clara (Marta Etura), sneaking into her apartment and night and doing….stuff. Tosar and Etura are both excellent. Tosar balances being both charming and unsettlingly creepy. Etura is unflinchingly bubbly and magnetic until the very end. There’s not a lot in the way of slashing, but the decidedly f🤩ked up stalker story was compelling from start to finish. The big reveal wasn’t too surprising. I never really thought that César was going through all that hassle just for late night non consensual spooning.
- Matthias_812April 4, 2025Not too many movies have managed to get under my skin but Sleep Tight really stressed me out and made me anxious. You think this is an invasion of privacy and even a home invasion simple concept but it goes even further down the "holy shit" hole. I was stressing over the tight situations you have to witness. And when you think it can't get anymore grim, it kicks you in the face and tramples further down to Hell. Coming from the same mind that directed the horror masterpieces [REC] and [REC]² Jaume Balagueró makes you feel unsafe in your home again- moreso if you live in an apartment. Ever wonder what might happen around you while you're sleeping? Don't watch this one if you do! Sleep Tight is startling, dark, and gets downright disgusting!
