Shutter Island Ratings & Reviews
- MikeOctober 11, 2024Shutter Island is a psychological experience that places the viewer into the obscured mind of Teddy Daniels Martin Scorsese crafted this film into the smallest details, details you might have missed during your first watch, which makes the viewer interconnect with the feelings and mental instability of Teddy Daniels. Right from the beginning you realize, as the viewer, that there is something odd about the prison Teddy is investigating. During the whole film you get the feeling that you know what is going to happen, but you don’t. This is what made the ending of the film so powerful. The dark cinematography, characters and worldbuilding are all seen through the obscured mind of Teddy Daniels. This enhances the suspicion the viewer has during the film and creates an interesting, unique and mindbending experience. The more you watch this film, the more details you notice. This, and the dark suspicious tone, are some of the reasons why this film remains one of my all-time favorites. Overall Shutter Island is a must-watch if you like twisted psychological films, like I do. Letterboxd: Mike_v_E
