- Kevin WardJuly 2, 2025A lightly entertaining comedy / thriller that throws Jake Johnson in a reality game show that has hunter ninjas trying to kill him. If he survives 30 days he wins a million dollar prize. The key to survival is to never be alone. The hunters are not allowed to kill him as long as he is with someone. It’s an almost irresistible premise in that it seems like such an easy feat, until you really think about what it looks like to never be more than an arms reach from another person. It’s also the directing debut for Johnson and he does an admirable job. He and Anna Kendrick have solid chemistry and the film works best when the two of them are together working to help each other. ……and then Kendrick is just gone from the movie. It had the feeling like the production could only afford a few days and they just ran out of shooting days on Kendrick’s calendar. The finale really fizzles for that reason. At least Wayne Brady’s calendar was open. Enjoyable watch and I would sign up for another Jake Johnson feature.
- cultfilmlikerMarch 26, 2025“These are the rules, my man!” lol @ shooting your shot with Andy Samberg. Glad it paid off with ***** ***** at the end A fun spin on the “being hunted” concept! Great cast! Still in love with Emily Hampshire. Good performance from Johnson and enjoyable (but slightly amateur) script / direction. Fittingly has some Palm Springs vibes! RIP Biff Wiff
- RyezooFebruary 4, 2025TRAILER SHOWED TOO MUCH! Fun idea, that never goes big enough. Jake Johnson’s good as the lead and there are definitely a few laughs here and there. It just left me wanting more and feeling little bit unsatisfied. The crew members were a funny touch.
- ScottDecember 26, 2024I like this movie and I wanted to like it more but I kept wishing it would have embraced the absurdity of the situation more enthusiastically. Or maybe I just wanted to see more of Andy Samberg idk.
