Screamboat Ratings & Reviews
- COCOApril 6, 2025What are we doing as a society man…
- razvancandeaJune 23, 2025Some people accuse the poohnyerse of taking itself too seriously, and say that it could use some campyness and comedy. This movie is proof that they are wrong. I actually enjoy those movies as the shlock that they are. In contrast, this one was just a cringe fest. I did not find it amusing, nor entertaining and had a really hard time finishing it. I love B horror and find a lot of delight in several bad movies. But this one was just tedious.
- John HomenJune 3, 2025So here we are again, another spin-off from the public domain hell that Disney's living in. I took a break from Screamboat at what felt like the halfway point of a 4 hour long synder cut edit, but I barely made it 40 minutes in. It's slow, confusing, cheesy gore, and makes the same mistakes the creators of the Popeye movies made. When the physical effects are trash, DONT SHOW THEM. The design of the monster looks like what I can only imagine a dead rat trapped in the lint filter of an industrial dryer for 20 years would resemble. The film is bad. Worse it's boring. Doom scroll your feeds instead of wasting time with this.
- James GreyMay 22, 2025Oh Man! What a movie. You can't go into this movie taking it seriously. This is an easter egg filled assault on Steamboat Willie going Public Domain. As they say in the lawyer world, you don't mess with the Mouse, but this was an exceptionally done prod at them.
- VooKaJune 2, 2025Not perfect, but definitely a fun watch. The movie doesn’t take itself too seriously, which is refreshing. I wished for a bit more blood and gore, but I’d say it’s worth a watch if you like B-movie horror.
- Jacob O’NealMay 29, 2025Dear David Howard Thornton, I appreciate your talent. Art the clown is an inspired creation. Your version of the Joker in that fan film was great. But dude! Come on! This?! Sincerely, Still A Fan
- Typical NerdMay 19, 2025Hoped this would've been somewhat entertaining, it's not, it's a chore of bland jokes, extreme plot armor and murders. I'd rather die on that boat than watch this again.
- markmental666May 15, 2025What makes "Screamboat" work is that it knows exactly what it is and embraces it fully. It's not trying to be high art or reinvent horror - it's having a blast playing in a very specific sandbox while thumbing its nose at Disney's corporate control of cultural icons, our own self-absorbed modern society, and even horror movie conventions themselves. If you go in expecting "Hereditary" or even "Friday the 13th," you'll be disappointed. But if you approach it as a spiritual successor to films like "Leprechaun," with a healthy dose of Disney parody and social commentary, you'll have a great time. The practical effects, the inspired casting of Thornton, and the genuinely funny premise make "Screamboat" a worthy addition to the pantheon of campy horror-comedies that don't take themselves too seriously while still delivering the goods for genre fans. Is it going to win any awards? Hell no. But for those of us who appreciate the specific pleasures of watching tiny killers dispatch victims in creatively gruesome ways - especially when that tiny killer is a twisted version of Disney's most recognizable character slaughtering caricatures of modern society's worst elements - "Screamboat" delivers exactly what we're looking for.
- Hipster ZOMBIEMay 5, 2025If you’ve ever watched Disney’s Steamboat Willie and thought, “This needs more blood,” Screamboat is the unhinged nightmare you never knew you wanted. Most of these Disney/horror mashups have been unwatchable however the team behind the beloved “Terrifier” series walk the line between hilarious and absurd. Let’s talk gore: Screamboat is drenched in it. There’s a scene where a guy gets flattened by a giant enchanted broom (yes, like Fantasia). Another victim gets their head popped like a balloon by two gloved hands that look suspiciously like they came from a cheerful rodent’s costume closet. Subtle? No. Hilarious and horrifying? Absolutely. The film doesn’t shy away from its Disney inspirations—it swan-dives into them. The killer wears a twisted version of Mickey’s classic outfit, various Disney one-liners said throughout the movie, even a group of party girls named after Disney princesses. The mouse even has Mickey’s iconic laugh. Screamboat isn’t trying to be prestige horror. It knows it’s a trashy, satirical splatterfest and leans into it with cartoonish glee. If Mickey Mouse went on a bender, raided a Spirit Halloween, and filmed a snuff film on a cruise ship—this would be the result. It’s a film so bad that it’s great it’s self awareness.
