Saving Private Ryan Ratings & Reviews
- Das_LamaJune 16, 2025This movie is great. See other reviews. The sound is just impressive. The beach landing is what I use to test out my surround sound system setup. If you feel the need to duck, it is setup correctly.
- TanalienJanuary 9, 2025It was this film, Saving Private Ryan, that led me to realize the core tenet of Steven Spielberg’s movies: they are all courageous stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. This theme began in fictitious waters: an archaeologist, a boy and an alien, and a paleontologist. Those were powerful tales, but by delving into the stories of America, Spielberg has tapped into something more. Still, the men we follow in the film’s Second Ranger Battalion may be fictitious, but the Second Ranger Battalion itself was a very real part of D-Day. Spielberg is building many of his narratives around American heroes and documenting our history in ways that can’t be gleaned from a textbook.
- AustinApril 24, 2025There's this private named Ryan. Needs savin'.
- Charles LondonMarch 11, 2025The first 24 minutes of this movie have been well discussed and rightfully so. Stephen Spielberg's recreation of the Omaha Beach invasion is nothing short of stunning. Once your mind, heart, gut and soul process this numbing and sobering experience, you will find the less-talked-about portion of the film accolade-worthy in it's own right. Tom Sizemore is outstanding in a supporting role and Tom Hanks is Tom Hanks in this fictional story based on true events. Harsh reality and cinematic art converge in a film of heroes willing to pay the ultimate price. May the price paid at Normandy never need be paid again.

- JeremeyJune 2, 2025Like being drafted through your TV. 5 stars. Saving Private Ryan isn’t a movie — it’s a full-blown emotional ambush with surround sound. You don’t watch this thing. You live through it. That beach landing? I paused to check if I still had legs. And just when you recover from that? Boom — a medic scene that hits like a bayonet to the soul. By the time I remembered to breathe, someone else was bleeding out again. The sniper scene? Don’t even talk to me. I was whispering prayers right along with Pvt. Jackson like we were both in a Call of Duty final mission — minus the respawn. When that round punched clean through the enemy’s scope, I actually sighed in relief even though I know... you know... we’ve both seen MythBusters. Tom Hanks? That “tired but doing his damn best” energy hit like your favorite teacher and your war-worn uncle had a kid. The whole cast just bleeds humanity — and mud, and shrapnel, and heartbreak. Top 10 running for best war movie ever made. Watch it with good speakers, a full heart, and maybe your favorite spinny cap and crayons — 'cause you're gonna have PTSD for a while.
- SandyOlson78May 23, 2025OH MY GOD
- Mister ArnMay 13, 2025This movie gives you a small taste of war and it's intense. The characters are flawed and varied making it easy to identify with them. Spielberg did such a good job bring these characters to life, that each time I watch the movie I find tears in eyes at the end.
- The Gutter MonkeyMarch 23, 2025Arguably the best war film ever made.
- Eric BakkeOctober 11, 2024Saving Private Ryan presents some of the most brutal and graphic portrayals of battlefield violence ever captured on screen. It sets itself apart from other war epics by confronting the harsh realities of war head-on, rendering it an unflinchingly ugly subject that stays with you long after the credits roll.
