Sarah Cooper: Everything's Fine Ratings & Reviews
jackmeat

My quick rating - 4.5/10. How in the world this walking 15 minutes of fame got so many celebs in her special is, well, not a mystery at all. Netflix has loads of money. I doubt any of them were pleased to be a part of it, though. I gave it a chance, and she just really isn't that funny. And the clearly prepared parts of this are the highlight. It doesn't take much talent to make anything that dribbles out of Trump's mouth funny, so there is no credit there. I will give bonus points for insisting they did a skit in this at the Allstate arena parking lot though lol. Definitely not worth the trip, even with the semi-amusing cameo bits. Too little good to be had in this one.

I get that Cooper and friends are trying to mirror the feeling of doom-scrolling, but the result is more like an SNL cold open gone rogue.
New York Magazine/Vulture
Kathryn VanArendonk
Everything's Fine is painfully aware, at every moment, that things are terribly, terribly bad. Beyond frantically running in circles and landing on a Twin Peaks reference, though, I'm not sure what it's trying to do.

Everything's Fine is yet more proof of the challenge of satirizing our chaotic world, and why traditional forms keep coming up short...
Paste Magazine
Christian Becker
Everything's Fine is difficult to describe. I don't think anybody who presses play will be able to predict all its bizarre twists and turns.

The more enjoyable aspects of the special came during the bits that had nothing to do with Trump but everything to do with how weird 2020 is.

Melanie McFarland
Happily for everyone involved and the audience, it works. This is in no small part due to Cooper knowing her audience's expectations and limitations.
The Atlantic
Shirley Li
The comedian may have gone viral for "playing Trump," but here, with her biggest platform yet, she demonstrates what her comedic taste really is -- and it's somewhat surprising to learn that it's deeply weird. It's also invigorating to watch.
Variety
Ashley Ray-Harris
Well, it looks like a non-stop parade of celebrity cameos and leftover "Saturday Night Live" sketches that often feel too long. As a special that showcases Cooper's talent and actual voice, it's even less successful.
USA Today
Kelly Lawler
It's clear that she understands the fear and anxiety we've all been living with for seven months. She's not so much fiddling as Rome burns but running around the streets cracking as many jokes as she can before the flames engulf her, too.
NPR
Linda Holmes
Cooper and Lyonne have succeeded in making a curiously dark bit of fiction that hangs a lot of smaller comedy ideas from a larger, sturdier tonal experiment. It's really good.
CNN.com
Brian Lowry
At its best, Everything's Fine is a reminder that everything is most certainly not fine, conjuring laughter by capturing the sheer absurdity of it all, much like Cooper's Trump-channeling videos.
Jezebel
Hazel Cills
Like many funny people who get a few minutes of viral fame on platforms like TikTok, or Youtube, or Twitter, Cooper doesn't move beyond her shtick in Everything's Fine, a shtick that feels tiresome the third time you see it in the special.
Los Angeles Times
Robert Lloyd
A dark and uncomfortable hour, in its glitchy mix of the banal and the bizarre something more likely to show up on Adult Swim or IFC than Netflix. It's funny, but it won't necessarily make you laugh.
Chicago Sun-Times
Richard Roeper
Sarah Cooper is a comic force for our times, with a career that will last far after this madness finally subsides and is already expanding far beyond the boundaries of viral videos.
San Francisco Chronicle
Mick LaSalle
We have had cringe comedy for most of the 21st century. In "Everything's Fine," Cooper goes beyond that. This is the comedy of dread, of fear, of mutually understood misery.
