Riot Girls Ratings & Reviews

This is based in the United States. For some strange reason, the mystery virus has killed only the adults. Regardless, even in 1995, handguns were incredibly plentiful in the US. The survivors, all children (for some reason unknown to medical science) would most definitely be carrying fire arms and not just baseball bats. I guess it is hard to make a film based on children shooting each other though.
The Last Thing I See
Brent McKnight
The cinematic equivalent of a 90-second punk song; it gets in, goes fast, and whips up the crowd. Messy but urgent, this is all scrappy underdog attitude, righteous fury, and a sharp explosion of pent up rage.

Rob Gonsalves
"Riot Girls" is both retrograde and progressive, which fits this polarized time. Vuckovic's direction is assured, steady and earthy; the images and sound have a pleasing solidity.
Screen Queens
Chloe Leeson
Vuckovic revels in displays of punk, anarchy and androgyny through a fun sci-fi splatter story that exacerbates the already extreme mindsets of teenagers where every small decision is life or death...
Cinemalogue
Todd Jorgenson
This dystopian thriller from Canada has style and attitude to spare, but doesn't supplement its retro vibe with compelling characters.
Los Angeles Times
Katie Walsh
A splashy, bloody take on "Lord of the Flies" with a rock 'n' roll spirit.
TheWrap
Michael Nordine
There's a youthful energy reminiscent of We Are the Best!! and Sing Street, and not just because the energetic soundtrack plays a key role.
I Love Splatter
Amie Simon
Riot Girls is a super fun, nostalgically bloody ride - I was rooting for Scratch and Nat the entire time, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. It was such a goddamn joy watching these two women be fearless fucking bad-asses.
Common Sense Media
Joyce Slaton
Powerful females, punk rock energy in violent, cult-y film.
Aisle Seat
Mike McGranaghan
Ambitious and cool, but also a tiny bit lacking in one key area.
Austin Chronicle
Marc Savlov
Riot Girls doesn't disappoint in the mayhem department, and as a meta-story about female empowerment in an increasingly threatening "men's world," this wild and woolly take on teen-angsters past would make Furiosa herself cheer.
The Film Stage
Jared Mobarak
Riot Girls proves just as much about a new generation taking the reins as it does empowered women expunging toxic male entitlement.
Daily Dead
Sara Clements
Jovanka Vuckovic's feature debut, Riot Girls, succeeds in separating itself from the mould, with a hard rock survival tale that feels like something The CW could produce at their full potential.
The Hollywood Reporter
John DeFore
Appealing cinematography and engaging use of split-frame comic-book transitions are the closest the film comes to the excitement of 1990s DIY scene-making; the rest is just derivative genre filler.
Film Inquiry
Kristy Strouse
It's as much about the intricacies of its characters as it is a violent and music-fueled horror ride. Riot Girls is a throwback, yet inventive.
AWFJ.org
Alexandra Heller-Nicholas
A queer teen love story told through the lens of the dystopian gang warfare trope, Riot Girls is often visceral and consistently high-energy.
Pajiba
Kristy Puchko
With a slew of allusions to '80s genre cinema, Riot Girls aims to reclaim the post-apocalypse for queer girls with attitude.
Nightmarish Conjurings
Shannon McGrew
Riot Girls is a powerful depiction of women kicking ass against the backdrop of male entitlement, classism, and a post-apocalyptic mid-90's setting.
The Blogging Banshee
Molly Henery
Riot Girls is a genre-bending adventure that acts as a thrilling ode to misfits.
