Ride the Pink Horse Ratings & Reviews
Mister Arn
May 17, 2025
"Ride the Pink Horse" may not boast the most robust plot or extensive character interaction, but its cinematography is compelling enough to make the film worthwhile. The dynamic camera work skillfully draws the viewer into each scene and fluidly guides them through the unfolding action. Additionally, the depiction of Santa Fe Plaza is a delightful highlight, remaining remarkably unchanged since the film's production.
IONCINEMA.com
Nicholas Bell
An exciting film noir gem ripe for rediscovery.
Scene-Stealers.com
Eric Melin
It shows Montgomery still taking chances, retaining some seriously robust cinematic flair, courtesy director of photography Russell Metty. There are lots of long, fluid takes and a very heavy atmosphere throughout.
Parallax View
Sean Axmaker
The film is both tough and touching, with crackling dialogue (scripted by the great Ben Hecht and Charles Lederer) and stylized scenes...
Creative Loafing
Matt Brunson
The plot isn't the attraction here; instead, it's the intriguing relationships between the characters, the black-and-white camerawork by the great Russell Metty (Touch of Evil, Spartacus), and the scintillating performances by all concerned.
Under the Radar
Austin Trunick
An under-seen but highly-recommended film.
The Dissolve
Noel Murray
If a director's job is to come up with creative ways to convey who characters are and the deeper meaning of their circumstances, Montgomery earns a gold star.
EmanuelLevy.Com
Emanuel Levy
Skillfully crafted crime-noir, well directed by Robert Montogmery and well acted by the entire cast, especially Thomas Gomez in an Oscar-nominated performance.
Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews
Dennis Schwartz
Stylishly presented complex psychological melodrama.
