- DiabloJanuary 26, 2026PHENOMENAL almost 1:1 replica of the game, yet, in movie format. Anyone who says the movie was less than faithful or terrible in any way is clearly NOT a fan of Silent Hill 2 (the video game) and that is okay. But you shouldn't be reviewing a movie that is BASED PRECISELY on a SPECIFIC video game. This is NOT a turn-key horror film. This movie is a movie adaptation and therefore these keys must be taken into consideration: The game was Japanese. The original voice acting and story is Japanese. It was dubbed in English and the behaviors, actions, and timing for responses are not English core. The video game came out in 2001. It is a quarter century old. This movie was not much different than the Silent Hill 1 movie. If you aren't a massive fan of the first 2 or 3 Silent Hill games, you won't understand or enjoy this film. And that is okay. There are billions of movies that are turn-key for you.
- Oʂɯαʅԃσ RσყҽƚƚJanuary 28, 2026What really stood out to me in Return to Silent Hill is its psychological core. This is not a movie driven by cheap scares or constant explanations, but by obsession, guilt, and the slow unraveling of a damaged inner world. #ᴍᴏᴠɪᴇɴɪɢʜᴛ 🍿 #ᴍʏsᴛᴇʀʏ #ʜᴏʀʀᴏʀ 👀 #ᴅʀᴀᴍᴀ #ᴡʜᴏᴅᴜɴɴɪᴛ #ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜɪɴɢɴᴏᴡ
- Tom CooperMay 15, 2026Wow... Where do I begin? I was just so distracted by the terrible lighting and CGI from the beginning, the odd way the people talk, stoic attitude, very odd... When the walls start to peel, why are you not going insane? I've played the games and it works there but when you're trying to portray someone you have to put a touch of realism. It's just so odd. Wooden acting and absolutely nonsensical story that doesn't forgive. Also, when your phone battery gets low, it's always a good idea to smack your phone against your palm like it's a 90s television, that always gives it some more juice. What a 💩 film. Did I say the CGI was horrendous yet?
- Daniel SchmidMay 14, 2026It's heavily oriented on the video game Silent Hill 2, with some deviations. If you can look past those and take the movie for what it is, it's not a bad movie. I wish some things were a little clearer, but let's be honest, Silent Hill lives from its mysteries, so I'm fine with that. But just like with the game, you need to think about a lot of things to make sense of them. As for the sound: The previous movies had top sound design, but in music and in sound effects. For my personal taste this iteration falls a little short of that. It's not bad, just not quite as haunting as I wish it was. Visuals: The previous movies had incredible creature design and, most of all, presentation and exhibition. While we do see a lot of creatures, my inner creature fanatic wishes there was more of them to see. What we see is great, it's just not enough to feel the constant dread which to me is part of what makes Silent Hill special. The effects are okay but as with many modern movies, they just don't seem as flawless anymore. Especially the misty scenery just does not seem to fit in with the lighting and ambiance of the characters, meaning that it doesn't feel like they're really there. All in all I can recommend this movie. I'm afraid it won't take the place in my heart that I wish it would.
- Poulsen80May 13, 2026This movie gets one star, for the effort of making a movie, that was based on a classic game and tried to follow the original idea... But trying to make a movie based on a game, 1:1 doesn't work, so the movie just ends up being confusing and bad paced. It has its elements but when a movie starts feeling long, it's not a good sign. Not often I'm lost for words and details regarding a movie, but this time..... I'm out....
