De jonge Pietari woont bij zijn vader Rauno die een rendierenslachthuis runt. Dichtbij hen in de buurt doet een Amerikaanse wetenschapsexpeditie een grote vondst: ze vinden de Kerstman die er volgens de legende begraven lag. Niet de Kerstman zoals vele hem kennen, maar de kwaadaardige lokale variant. De dag voor Kerst komen Pietari en zijn vrienden langs een veld met dode rendieren. De volwassenen geven een wolf de schuld, maar Pietari en zijn vriend Juuso weten dat er heel iets anders aan de hand is, een duister iets. De volgende dag wordt echter de ontdekking gedaan dat alle kinderen uit het dorp vermist worden.

Unique approach to the Christmas/Santa/Krampus lore which I kind of loved. But it also didn’t really go anywhere ir really flesh out the lore. Fun to unexpectedly traumatize your children with the sight of a bunch of Santa sacks. They didn’t like it very much. 😬

An instant Cult Classic! RARE EXPORTS has a permanent place in my Annual Holiday Movie Marathon-- And I think that it will find its way on to many more Christmas Movie Lists for many more years to come!

Loved this movie. Great acting and a Christmassy film with a dark theme. The little boy is incredible, and the strain in the relationship with his dad is communicated to the viewer without overacting. Will watch again for sure.

An enjoyable movie overall, though it felt like a short that was stretched out to be a feature film. Definitely has the making to be a cult classic as it is not your typical Christmas tale and that's a positive.

An interesting and ambitions Finnish horror action film. It doesn't appear to know quiet what kind of film it is, action or horror. It doesn't appear to have the budget to match it goals. The ending strains credulity. The director show great promise and has gone on to better films.
