山里に住む若者アシタカは、怒りと憎しみにより“タタリ神”と化した猪神から呪いをかけられてしまう。呪いを解く術を求めて旅に出るアシタカはやがて、西方の地で“タタラ”の村にたどり着く。エボシ御前が率いるその村では、鉄を造り続けていたが、同時にそれは神々の住む森を破壊することでもあった。そして、そんなタタラ達に戦いを挑むサンの存在をアシタカは知る。人の子でありながら山犬に育てられた彼女は“もののけ姫”と呼ばれていた。

- M08Y2025年8月19日Princess Mononoke feels like Studio Ghibli took Fernfully and elevated to epic heights. It's the tale of mans struggle to accept forces outside it's control. In typical fashion, the styling is beautiful and the characters are very well realised. Lady Eboshi is a standout for me as the charismatic leader of the ironworks who decides to take on a literal god, pretty badass behaviour. While not my favourite Studio Ghibli film, Princess Mononoke aims high and does a damn good job of tackling a complicated theme. For some reason I struggled to articulate my throughts on this one.
