Peeping Tom Ratings & Reviews
- cultfilmlikerNovember 1, 2025“They can only hang you once!” “Exactly.” One. Perfect. Shot. I guess I’m a voyeur now? Abject terror. One of the GOAT horror / thriller / slashers and one of the GOAT reveals. Could very easily make my top 25 One of the greatest triumphs in the history of filmmaking with one of the worst receptions by Hollywood of all-time. A masterpiece in every way. Back when directors would take chances (tho it notoriously did NOT pay off lmao) Not only is the plot fantastic, but the dialogue is so emotionally gripping yet is still able to employ those witty, sarcastic quips! So beautiful. So provocative. So wholly original. Impeccable acting. Spectacular set designs and costuming. So important for the slasher genre. Would be a great double feature with Sinister!
- Paul KalkhofOctober 22, 2025This is a masterclass in suspense, color, lighting and performance.
- Kevin WardJuly 7, 2025Helen: Mother, What’s worrying you? Mother: The price of whiskey Helen: What else? Mother: What else matters? Gorgeously produced film, saturated in color and loaded with interesting and beautiful shot compositions. It’s fitting that such care was taken with the focus and framing of the camera since since this film is about voyeurism. I really loved just about everything about the way this film is out together. It’s a really excellent psychological drama. It is lacking in blood and actual slashing that I like in my slashers. I think it’s more like an ancestor to the slasher film as it pre-dates Psycho by a few months and depicts a serial killer more than a decade before the term serial killer is even coined. The final reveal is gloriously twisted and makes up for some of the slower acts that lead up to it. Helen’s blind and alcoholic mother is definitely the MVP.
- Oliver ReznikApril 22, 2025Confusing and a bit boring. Hard to tell what it's going for. It's got that "Im a filmmaker and this is deep vibe" lol. Pretty cool murder method at least.
- Eric BakkeJanuary 24, 2025Overall, I found Peeping Tom to be overrated and outdated, though it still stands out as more engaging and entertaining than many of its contemporaries in the horror/thriller genre. While its shock value may have worn off, its eerie atmosphere, psychological depth, and exploration of voyeurism remain strikingly ahead of its time.
