As one of many psychological home-invasion based movies of the time, ‘Pacific Heights’ stands out as a memorable thriller with a decent cast, and enough tension to entertain throughout. John Schlesinger’s spacious and yet tightly focussed direction lends an edginess that while not overdone, supports the narrative well without detracting from the film’s objective, and so what’s delivered is a methodical exercise in isolated fear at the hands of aclearly deranged and disturbed individual. It’s not often that a movie of this sub-genre sticks with me, but ‘Pacific Heights’ never loses its charm despite numerous visits, and so if you’re yet to see it then it comes well recommended, and if it’s been a while, then definitely give it another look sooner rather than later.

Creepy but a good watch, especially if you are a landlord

Ah yes, pity the poor, hapless San Francisco landlords! Is Drake related to Saul Goodman? Because he manages to accomplish nothing but screw things up and get his ass beaten several times. At least his girlfriend discovers a few functional brain cells to rub together, but only just in time for the third act. It's predictable from start to finish, with some good suspense at parts that is severely dampened by the sheer, breathless stupidity of the main characters.
