O'Dessa Ratings & Reviews
- Kevin WardJuly 1, 2025Sadie Sink was awesome. And I actually really liked most of the songs as well despite it being way more country than I probably ever listen to. Each of Kelvin Harrison Jr.’s songs rocked pretty hard. But the story is soooo thin, it was very hard to stay engaged. I love the big swing of a dystopian country western rock opera, but I think it was a miss for me. Coming to Hulu March 20 and could probably warrant a curiosity watch.
- Alex | Pop Culture BrainApril 25, 2025Interesting world building, Sadie Sink is good, but I wish the songs were longer.
- COCOMarch 19, 2025Probably one of most interesting takes of a post-apocalyptic story that quickly turns into a thrilling Country Western Rock Opera. Really enjoyed the visual aesthetics here. Very reminiscent of an 80's laser tag arena. While the story is thin and starts to lose steam towards the second half, it never really finds the tone it wants to stick with. Sadie Sink is awesome and she definitely carries the story with her performance as a rebel country punk trying to save the world, but the message doesn't quiet hit the mark at the end. Can definitely see this becoming a cult-classic down the line and it warrants a watch if you're looking for something fresh and a new take on the classic dystopian story.

- 匚卂尺ㄥMarch 21, 2025What was described as a rock opera set in a post-apocalyptic world only followed through on the set design and moderately good acting. The only characters that actually became introduced and well fleshed out were that of O'dessa and Euri, everyone else was merely a placeholder in the story. Whilst the romantic story was good the rest of both the story and the singing was dreadfully lacking. Sadie Sink has a beautiful voice that whilst it lent itself well to the songs they were about as close to rock as Elvis Presley ever was whilst singing country songs. None of the songs were memorable, and I am reviewing this not even 5 minutes from the ending of the film, and frankly felt like I have just wasted the past 1 hour and 45 minutes.
- capitolfiMarch 24, 2025Respect for the effort at world building... Nothing but disappointment at the storytelling... I saw Sadie's music videos from this flick on YouTube which led me here. I am a diehard Stranger Things fan, and Max has been my favorite since her first appearance. Chalk that at least partially up to the Michael Myers mask. So clearly I like Sink...and she's too good for this. Her voice & her performance are really the only reason to sit through this...unless you want to hear an atrocious autotuned disaster of a song from the also too-talented-for-this Murray Bartlett. The penultimate song is also really fucking good. The only significant issue I'll address is this. The world this occupies is cool, not exactly a unicorn within the genre, but it's different enough to be interesting. Everything else, though, is painfully derivative of infinitely better stories. That breeds an inevitable comparison, and Odessa can't compete.
- shadow2442March 20, 2025woke crap. unwatchable. even with sadie sink in the main role. sorry.
