The ending is a bit disorienting and leans into ambiguity more than it strictly needs to, but it’s ultimately okay—more thoughtful than frustrating, even if the destination feels somewhat visible before arrival. What really carries the film is Kaitlyn Dever’s performance, which grounds the story emotionally and makes the near-total lack of dialogue feel purposeful. The silence effectively amplifies her isolation and kept me wondering whether she could actually speak at all (she doesn’t). Suspense is steady throughout, the creature work and effects are better than expected, and the core concept is strong enough to sustain interest. Not a perfect landing, but a compelling, competently made film that rewards attention.

Kaitlyn Dever carries despite barely speaking a single word. Unexpected turns, sizzling sound design and non-stop tension make this one of my favorites of the year.
