Neighbors Ratings & Reviews
- Manuel FrangisMarch 25, 2025I just watched Neighbors and I give it 4 out of 5 stars. This movie is hilarious and delivers exactly what you would expect from a crazy R rated comedy about a suburban couple going head to head with a college frat. It is loud, chaotic, and full of wild moments that made me laugh a lot. The story follows a young married couple who have just moved into a quiet neighborhood with their baby. Everything is going fine until a fraternity moves in next door. At first they try to be friendly and cool with it, but it does not take long before the parties and noise start to get out of control. What follows is a full on war between the couple and the frat, with both sides doing whatever it takes to one up each other. Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne are great together as the couple. Their chemistry feels real and they both bring a ton of energy to the movie. Rogen plays his usual laid back but stressed out character and Byrne totally holds her own, getting just as wild as he does. One of the best things about this movie is how involved her character is in the madness. She is not just sitting on the sidelines. She is right in the middle of it. Zac Efron is surprisingly great as the frat leader Teddy. He is charming, funny, and a little insane, which makes him the perfect rival. You kind of get why the frat follows him and why he takes things so personally. His character could have just been a typical party guy but Efron gives him a little more depth and that helps the movie a lot. The humor is totally over the top. There are ridiculous pranks, insane party scenes, awkward run ins, and jokes that push the limit. It is the kind of comedy that throws everything at you and just wants you to have a good time. Most of the jokes land and even the ones that are a little too much are still kind of funny because of how far they go. The pacing is fast and the movie does not waste time. It moves from one crazy setup to the next and there is always something going on. Whether it is a prank war, a party gone wrong, or some awkward moment with the baby, it keeps the energy high from start to finish. The reason I give it 4 out of 5 stars instead of a full 5 is because while it is really funny and entertaining, it does not have a lot of emotional depth. There are some quick moments where the characters reflect on growing up and moving on, but they do not hit as hard as they could. The movie is more focused on laughs than character growth, which is totally fine, but it does leave a little room for more. Still, the cast is great, the jokes are funny, and the whole concept is just fun to watch play out. It is a classic clash between adult responsibilities and wild college life and it works. Overall Neighbors is a crazy and hilarious comedy with great performances and nonstop energy. It is perfect if you just want to laugh and watch a bunch of wild things happen to people who are way in over their heads. I had a great time watching it and I would definitely watch it again.
