My Best Friend
Directed by Laly CataguasesA lonely Boy draws an imaginary Friend on a sheet of paperboard and his creation miraculously comes to life. They play together in the boy's room, on the streets and in the soccer field. Then Boy ties a kite line to his Friend and flies him in the air. Later that day, the boy's Mother enters the bedroom and finds a huge mess. Every single toy is out of place, and the paperboard Friend is laying down on the bed. She puts the toys away and, before Boy can do anything, she tears up the dummy. The next day, Boy draws his Friend again and they go out to have fun. But while they are playing, a sinister kite appears and cuts the line. Friend flies away, taken by the wind. In panic, Boy runs after him through the hills, crossing fences, bridges, and ends up falling into a puddle of mud. He regains his hope when Friend lands softly onto his arms. They are both dirty from head to toe, but happy again. Later in the bedroom, Mother finds Friend once more lying dirty on the bed. She shreds him to pieces and throws him in the trash, to the Boy's desperation. There is no more paper, but Boy will not give up. The yellow wall in his room now serves as a canvas to draw his Friend, and that place becomes his adventure land.
