Nel 1938 il giovane Henri Young viene incarcerato ad Alcatraz, per aver rapinato alcune banche prendendo in ostaggio persone e minacciandole. Nel carcere, governato dai sadici direttore James Humson ed il condirettore Milton Glenn, subisce trattamenti disumani, come l'isolamento e torture nelle segrete della prigione, per tre anni. Uscito dall'isolamento, uccide con un cucchiaio il detenuto Rufus McCain, che aveva fatto da spia sul suo tentativo di evasione. Young finisce sotto processo per omicidio e la sua sorte sembra già segnata, ma trova il giovane avvocato James Stamphill che mette sotto accusa l'ideologia penale di Alcatraz e tutto il sistema carcerario americano.

- ርልዪረ1 marzo 2025An excellent ensemble cast has produced a film that is beyond brilliant. Kevin Bacon is outstanding in his portrayal of a man broken by the officials in Alcatraz. This is the story of his trial for murder and of his inhumane and illegal treatment by the prison guards operating on instructions of the prison authorities. His original crime: stealing $5, to buy food for his family--reminiscent of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. That mistreatment has turned him into little more than a base animal, psychologically damaged by repeated beatings and by three years in solitary confinement. Do watch this film.

- Pascal Bollier22 settembre 2025christian slater and kevin bacon do a great job and the supporting cast is also on the money. christopher young's main theme is absolutely beautiful. for these reasons, the movie gets 2 stars. however, i do not understand why they choose a real person, henry young, as main protagonist when the real person and the one portrayed here have absolutely nothing in common. learning about the real henry young really leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth and is reason why i will probably not watch this again.
