Mulan Ratings & Reviews
- jackmeatDecember 22, 2024My quick rating - 7,1/10. Don't mind the IMDB reviews. Too many haters dragging this one down. The story itself is told well and although a couple times I think they kind of missed a few things, overall it worked well. The scenes and cinematography are top notch and are done on a grand scale. Cameras swoop in and out really helping you feel the city or vast landscapes being shown. The acting itself was extremely well done and each character was very believable in their performances. Don't go in expecting the cartoon, and let it be a minor scale epic that if they had chosen (and I knock it for not doing) it could've easily been one of those type of grand scale epics. Action scenes are choreographed to the strengths of their actors and to those holding the lens so it doesn't play out in a shaky, music video way that drives me nuts in other action films with a large amount of fighting going on at once. I may be in the minority in liking it so much, but I don't care. Score a big win for Disney on this one even if they are clearly pandering to the Chinese audience.
