Monster Hunter Ratings & Reviews
- RichardOctober 12, 2025This one’s loud, fast and unapologetically thin. Based on the Capcom video game series, Monster Hunter throws Milla Jovovich into a sandstorm and out the other side into a monster infested dimension. There’s not much plot, just survival, spectacle and oversized creatures with names you’ll forget before the credits roll. It’s a Paul W.S. Anderson movie, so you know what you’re getting: kinetic chaos, minimal exposition and Milla looking cool while everything explodes. Monster Hunter is the kind of movie that blurs into background noise unless you’re actively hunting for monster mayhem. It’s not great. But if you’re in the mood for sand, swords and screeching beasts, it delivers just enough.

- HakihikoFebruary 25, 2025A Visually Impressive but Shallow Adaptation "Monster Hunter" delivers plenty of action and spectacle, staying visually faithful to the game's world with massive, well-designed creatures and thrilling fight sequences. The CGI is impressive, and the monster battles provide some exciting moments that fans of the franchise may appreciate. However, beyond the action, the film lacks depth. The story is thin, with minimal character development and a weak script that fails to create emotional investment. The dialogue often feels clunky, and the pacing is uneven, making some scenes drag while others rush through key moments. While Milla Jovovich gives a solid performance as the lead, the characters remain underdeveloped, making it hard to truly connect with them. As a mindless action movie, "Monster Hunter" can be entertaining in short bursts, but it struggles to offer anything beyond visual spectacle. It had the potential to be a great adaptation but ends up feeling like just another generic action film with little staying power.
- ALVIE157February 23, 2025The story was unique...but the CGI was subpar.
