While sometimes the effects can get a tiny bit hokey, it could have easily been remedied by showing less. That, however, did not take away from the film's scariness. I had a lot of fun watching it and you will too.

May The Devil Take You might not rewrite the Necronomicon, but Tjahjanto's brand of possession thriller takes a life of its own through heavy-handed occult violence mixed with stellar performances and pulsating eyes peering between floorboards.

Lesmana for FATHER OF THE YEAR. Jk!
Bloody Disgusting
Meagan Navarro
It's not perfect and makes no attempts to disguise its influences, but this Raimi style spin on Satanic horror conjures up a devilishly fun midnight romp.
Common Sense Media
Brian Costello
So-so Indonesian horror movie is gory and violent.

Joel Keller
There's enough of a story to make all of the scary stuff mean something, which is a lot to say for a horror movie.
Rue Morgue Magazine
Deirdre Crimmins
Fans of Indonesian horror and Sam Raimi will get a kick out of the homage-drenched MAY THE DEVIL TAKE YOU. It is a film that is well aware of horror's past, and aims to add to its future.
Birth.Movies.Death.
Brian Collins
I'll remember it, which I guess is ultimately the important thing!
