- Rowan Krzysiak30. März 2025I get why it has a difficult reputation but it is a beautifully raw and honest television project; maybe too raw at times for its creators even (and me). I felt there were real moments of poignancy though that I could write a thousand words on. As a starter and most immediately, I don't see the Made in England banner at the end as insignificant. Are The Beatles taking England into the future or were they themselves being sucked into a tour of its past while, as a TV broadcast also using the medium to claim the disposable England of the present. If I would have ever have met Paul McCartney I now know what I would have said - "I quite liked Magical Mystery Tour actually"

„Magical Mystery Tour“ ist ein fantastisch-surrealer Film über die in Großbritannien sehr populären Busreisen ans Meer, bei dem die Beatles selbst das Drehbuch schrieben und Regie führten. Die Besetzung bestand aus den Bandmitgliedern und einigen skurrilen Darstellern. Der Film hatte 1967 im britischen Fernsehen Premiere. Während die Musik mit Klassikern wie „Magical Mystery Tour“, „The Fool on the Hill“ und „I Am the Walrus“ das Publikum begeisterte, wurde der Film von den TV-Kritikern gnadenlos verrissen. Sie hatten wohl leichtere Kost im Stil von „A Hard Day’s Night“ erwartet. Daher wurde der Film auch kein großer Erfolg.
