Longlegs Ratings & Reviews
- martin.575July 19, 2025Interesting slow burn movie. Not scary, but creepy. Cage gives a great performance as Longlegs, and all actors bring their best.
- sophiakonatFebruary 22, 2025His legs were not even that long
- adam3199June 29, 2025Nik Cage should stop cheap productions I thought, until I saw this. Wow! Edge of the seat. Very disturbing camera work, great set ups. However, Nik Cage should try and choose more quality. For example afrter this he did The Surfer, which is an unwatchable dog's vreakfast. For people unfamilair with that term, when a dog vomits it often eats its vomit and in Australia we dcall that a dog's breakfast. This film is certainly a classic and not a dog's breakfast
- rg9400November 1, 2024It's best to ignore the hype when watching this movie because outside of raising your expectations, it might also just make you think this movie is going to be very different than it actually is. It's a slow-burn serial killer procedural in the vein of Silence of the Lambs that worms its way into you. I watched Os Perkins' earlier works in The Blackcoat's Daughter and Gretel & Hansel. I noted his excellent skills with the technical aspects of filmmaking, and they are as sharp as ever in Longlegs. This movie is extremely stylish, with excellent camerawork, cinematography, imagery, and sound editing. Maika Monroe's acting is phenomenal -- she inhabits the sharp-witted detective while still making her fear palpable through the screen. Nic Cage is...okay? I think a lot has been hyped up about his performance, but I think he acts exactly the way I was expecting him to act. The problem with Os Perkins' earlier movies was limp scripts, and I was wondering what he could do with something stronger. This movie is mostly that. The movie starts out incredibly strong, and the sense of dread, mystery, and atmosphere is well-developed. However, as the movie progresses, I did feel like it started to struggle to bring everything together in a satisfying way. Namely, it introduces an element late into the movie that I just did not think landed. Also, at times, the dialogue is a bit soft spoken and obtuse, leading me to be confused if I was supposed to understand what was happening yet or not. Even though the ending didn't work for me, I still thoroughly enjoyed this movie and think it is as strong as some of the other arthouse horror movies people visualize from the past 10 years (many of which share similar issues regarding obtuse elements). It might not be a 10/10, but it's still incredible. The imagery in this movie is really fantastic, but don't go in expecting a ton of jump scares or anything in your face. It's a much more atmospheric movie. Honestly, the biggest drawback to this movie isn't anything related to what is in it. The viral marketing and hype machine around it are going to set unrealistic expectations and lead to disappointment from people expecting another Conjuring-esque movie. However, I would still highly recommend it.
- pipanniJune 25, 2025The movie starts with an interesting case to solve and a serial killer to catch and then painfully and slowly descends into a mess of artsy garbage. It's a mix of the "Silence of the lambs" and "Seven", but written by a group of retarded monkeys. Example: in one of the scenes the killer approaches a mother and her daughter. The mother asks him what does he want and the killer starts singing "let me in, you better let me in" while doing some weird moves with his arms. It's stupid and cringy, not creepy at all.
- JafferOctober 10, 2024Artsy crap
- Spencer MBJune 8, 2025Just go watch Se7en.
- Hipster ZOMBIEFebruary 21, 2025Longlegs was a film that was built up on a lot of hype. The creepy build up to the film with its eerie marketing was next level. Then came the movie and I have to be honest it’s a let down. Nicolas Cage is hyped up to be the scariest thing in the movie but he comes across more comical than anything else. At no point does he instill any sort of dread. The overall story is just build up to a ridiculously lame ending that is just insulting. Really it’s that bad. Maika Monroe who plays Agent Lee Harker is exceptional in the film with her performance but beyond that this film was all hype and nothing else.
- LuciferMorningstar00May 31, 2025I liked it. The main actress was also very good too.
- sopulaMay 29, 2025Effectively scary and creepy The crazy cage bits were like being struck by lightning in a good zapping you awake way, because the general spookie atmosphere and constant extremely slow zooms had put you in a coma Also loved the ending Very enjoyable, based cage
- RickFebruary 12, 2025Somehow I had it set in my head that this movie was about giant spiders. No idea where that came from. But this was really good and creepy. The lingering wide shots amped up the dread in a good way.
- SmoccApril 27, 2025Fantastic movie!
- GnomeSliceMarch 7, 2025Thrilling and mind bending, but also a little confusing. Good, but not great, and a weird ending.
- Pieter TFebruary 11, 2025Not very good, or my type of horror movie .
- NonPlayableContentJanuary 8, 2025The heavy breathing really reminds me of Ethan from RE:VII so that was the funny part for me. The scary part was never The entertaining part was the whole thing. I was drawn in with the first act and even the detective focus second act was good and didn't feel rushed to get us information as quick as possible. Reminds me a lot of my all time favorite Se7en.
