Florian Dahlmann finds his mother dead in her home. Searching through her secret documents, he discovers allusions to some deaths in the past. Her death from cancer had come about before she could pass on to her son evidence of a very old secret society which might still be active. Florian and the weird journalist Hochtstätter start to research the existence of the secret society. They are assisted by the unstable Dennis, Florian's best friend. Their research yields evidence that Florian's father was involved in the machinations of the secret society. At the same time, a power struggle ensues within the secret society about the leadership of the organisation. Where does justice end - where does revenge begin? How close should one come to the truth? Or should one just let sleeping dogs lie?
