Richard Dreyfuss carries this movie from the starting gate to the finish line. There is an added impost, as he doesn't have the strongest of scripts to work with, but enough of one to showcase his talents, and while a couple of scenes may drag just a bit, most of the film is fast paced, not unlike the track at Hialeah on a sunny day. There are also some well-acted character parts. Perhaps most noticeably, the film features a strong performance, in a "supporting" role, by Jennifer Tilly's dress. If you don't get what that means, you will just have to watch.
