Late Night with the Devil Ratings & Reviews
- rg9400November 1, 2024This film is presented in a very unique way, as a late night broadcast TV show, told in realtime, with a few behind the scene style shots. The cinematography is grainy and flickers, there is a nostalgic 70s style atmosphere to everything, and David Dastmalchian is able to easily embody the slick and smooth late night talk show host. Honestly, the direction is pretty strong, and I found most of this movie to be fairly engaging as I became engrossed in the actual talk show. The tension is built slowly as you know things are going to go wrong, but there is no outright jumpscares, just a building of atmosphere. I also was fairly invested in learning the backstory of Jack Delroy, as the movie keeps building up to what feels like will be a big reveal. However, the ending of the movie was fairly disappointing. It's abrupt, a bit too surreal compared to how grounded most of the rest of the movie is, and does not resolve most of the arcs in any satisfying way. I was hoping everything would click into place, but a lot of questions are left unanswered, leaving me feeling frustrated and confused and almost ruining the entire movie for me to be honest. I want to reconcile the strong first 80% of the movie with the ending, but I feel like since so much of it is build-up, and the payoff is not satisfactory, I can't actually give this a higher score. I do think the directors are strong, and I hope they focus a bit more on making everything land in their next movie.

- thereelvoiceMarch 28, 2025Late Night With The Devil captures the essence of a late night 70s show. You’re transported backstage as you witness the long lost “live” recording of a night that went horribly wrong. While not the scariest horror film, Late Night With The Devil is an expertly crafted tale that will keep you on edge of your seat until the final moments. When it was all over, this viewer was eager to rewind it and watch the eerie spectacle unfold all over again. In my top 5 horror films of 2024.
- AngusMcNutzNovember 3, 2024A perfect example of style over substance. That being said, its a very polished and enjoyable style.
- VarunOctober 19, 2024I really had a lot of fun watching this. More than a movie, it felt like an episode from a horror comedy anthology series like Inside No. 9 or even Black Mirror. David Dastmalchian usually plays villainous roles so it was refreshing to see him as a talk show host and he really nailed it. The guests were really entertaining too. Ian Bliss really steals each scene as the pompous skeptic. Christou really cracked me up and at the same time manages to have a flair about him rather than looking phoney. And Lilly is absolutely creepy, blurring the lines between being innocent and demon-like. Also shout out to Gus, he was pretty funny while also serving as the moral compass of the show. I was captivated the entire runtime, the pacing is really good and the long takes really make it feel like you’re watching a live show and are part of the audience. The film aesthetic perfectly captures the paranoid and curious vibes of the 70s. I think a lot of the new age spiritual stuff is bullshit as the West misinterpreted and appropriated a lot of genuinely helpful Eastern practices. And due to this misunderstanding, the scientific rationalist types with their arrogance completely threw the baby out with the bathwater. I think the dialogues in this film explores this tension pretty well. I thought the ending could’ve packed more punch and been less vague, it wasn’t entirely compelling but I did enjoy how hypnotic it gets and accurately conveys Jack’s psyche. Overall this was a really enjoyable horror film that’s best watched during Halloween.
- djaggMarch 15, 2025A wonderful blend of visual styles and a unique spin on possession films and Satanic panic. The production is phenomenal and Dastmalchian is always fun to watch. Liked it even more the second time.
- RickFebruary 12, 2025Heard some positive word of mouth and was in the mood for a horror flick so I put this on. Great use of the found footage format. The retro style effects were fantastic. My favorite part was the reaction of the skeptic at the end.
- RyezooFebruary 4, 2025Disclaimer- I was very exhausted while watching this and caught myself almost nodding off. Had nothing to do with movie, just that I got back from bachelors trip the previous night and lack of sleep was catching up to me. That being said I really liked this movie. The 70s vibe was absolutely nailed and I enjoyed every aspect of it. The story itself was interesting and fun. The way this goes off the rails is pretty great as well. I will be rewatching this one as soon as it comes out digitally to see if I like it even more than I already do!
