- JakeysDecember 26, 2025I was surprised to see middling reviews, I always thought this was one of Arnie's classics. Must be the party poopers.
- rafciokDecember 14, 2025This is one of my childhood favorites. Beautiful cinematography, nice music, engaging storyline. Astoria is a beautiful place to make films.
- RichardOctober 19, 2025Back when action stars were trying on comedy like oversized suits, Kindergarten Cop was Arnold’s most bizarre and somehow most charming, detour. He plays John Kimble, a gruff, no nonsense cop who goes undercover as a kindergarten teacher to catch a drug kingpin. What follows is part action flick, part fish out of water comedy and part “how many kids can scream at once before a man snaps?” Seeing it on the big screen was a trip. The crowd didn’t know what to expect, was this Commando with crayons? But once Arnold started barking orders at five year olds and getting pantsed by toddlers, the whole theater was in stitches. And yet, somehow, it still had heart. The kids weren’t just props, they were chaos incarnate and Kimble’s slow transformation from enforcer to protector actually landed. Pamela Reed is a scene, stealer as Kimble’s backup and Richard Tyson chews scenery as the villain with the world’s most punchable face. The film walks a weird tonal tightrope, gunfights one minute, nap time the next, but Ivan Reitman somehow makes it work. Kindergarten Cop is a glorious genre mashup that shouldn’t work, but totally does. I saw it in the cinema, laughed with the crowd, and left quoting “It’s not a tumor!” for weeks.
