Ju-on 2 Ratings & Reviews
- MrTrivet4 mars 2026Ju-On: The Curse 2 largely repeats the most effective threads from the original VHS release while attempting to further outline the origins of the curse. It is here that its visual template was permanently shaped - pale, slick-skinned apparitions with bulging eyes and unnatural movements, emitting distinctive guttural sounds resembling meowing or strangled groans, which later became iconic for the series. The film relies on minimal resources and a raw aesthetic, yet it manages to build an atmosphere of unease effectively. The problem is that the tension rarely evolves into genuine horror - the climactic scenes feel pale, almost as pale as the ghosts themselves. Despite a more coherent narrative structure, the whole project comes across as merely an expanded draft; given its limited technical value, it at times resembles a student project rather than a fully realized feature film.
